A potent ferroptosis inhibitor that protects membrane lipids from oxidative damage.
MCE Ferrostatin-1, also known as Fer-1, is a potent and selective inhibitor of ferroptosis. It acts as a synthetic antioxidant that suppresses lipid peroxidation and protects cell membranes from oxidative damage.
Ferrostatin-1 is widely used as a rescue compound in experiments involving ferroptosis induced by Erastin, RSL3, glutamate or other oxidative stressors. MCE reports an EC₅₀ value of approximately 60 nM against Erastin-induced ferroptosis in HT-1080 cells.
