The Elabscience Annexin V-FITC/PI Apoptosis Kit combines FITC-labeled Annexin V with propidium iodide for apoptosis analysis. Annexin V binds phosphatidylserine exposed on the outer cell membrane during early apoptosis, while PI identifies cells with compromised membrane integrity.
The staining combination can distinguish viable cells, early apoptotic cells and late apoptotic or necrotic cells when analyzed using a compatible flow cytometer or fluorescence microscope.
