A photoreactive DNA-binding dye for distinguishing viable and membrane-compromised microorganisms by PCR.
Biotium PMAxx™ Dye is a cell membrane-impermeant, photoreactive nucleic acid dye developed for viability PCR. It preferentially enters dead or membrane-compromised cells and binds their DNA. Following light activation, the dye becomes covalently attached to DNA and inhibits its subsequent PCR amplification.
