The Elabscience BCA Protein Colorimetric Assay Kit is designed for measuring total protein concentration in biological samples. Under alkaline conditions, proteins reduce copper ions, which subsequently form a purple-colored complex with bicinchoninic acid.
The resulting absorbance is proportional to the protein concentration and can be measured using a compatible spectrophotometer or microplate reader. The assay is suitable for routine protein quantification before electrophoresis, western blotting and other downstream procedures.
